In a world of industrial (i.e. boring) looking business phones the newly announced Panasonic KX-NT400 seeks to break free.

The KX-NT400 is marketed as an elegant and powerful IP network telephone that redefines the traditional business phone through its use of a 5.7-inch color touchscreen that provides quick and convenient access to Panasonic network cameras and business applications on your company intranet.

The heart of the NT-400 is a colorful, touch sensitive and intuitive interface that provides easy navigation to multiple options, including a Camera Screen that displays (live) video feeds and captures images from up to 20 network cameras, allowing users to monitor remote locations or see who’s at the door in areas where security is a concern. Users can control the cameras’ pan, tilt and zoom directly from the phone.

“Perfect for locations where a PC is not practical or desirable, the stylish NT400 IP network phone enhances productivity from the back office to your home office, providing a flexible and reliable way to manage your business and personal contacts, check work applications, view network camera feeds and much more, right from your desk,” said Bill Taylor, President of Panasonic System Networks Company of America. “And the built-in Communications Assistant software makes a number of progressive features possible, including Voice Mail Assistant, which enables users to visually manage messages on the phone’s screen.

The NT400 phone supports wireless Bluetooth headsets and features 48 programmable soft keys, an Easy Navigation Key for fast one-touch access to phone functions and Power over Ethernet capability, which allows data and electrical power to be transmitted over an Ethernet cable. Connections include two Ethernet ports, a USB port, an SD card slot and a headset jack.
