Welcome back to the GearGames weekly video game release feature here at Gear Diary! This week is a fairly typical spring release week, with a couple of solid new games and otherwise just mostly ‘filler’. The big release of the week is the sequel to the uneven fan favorite Red Steel for the Wii. The other big game is the sequel to the ambitious but heavily flawed (and commercially unsuccessful) 2006 multiplatform game Just Cause.
There is also the movie tie-in How to Train Your Dragon across multiple platforms, DS RPG exclusive entry into the Persona franchise Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, as well as the next game infested with Ubisoft’s customer-hostile DRM The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom. There are a bunch of other games coming out this week, so check out the list!

- Just Cause 2
- Game Room
- MotoGP 09/10 PS3
- How to Train Your Dragon

Some notes from last week:
- God of War III
- Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening
- Pokemon HeartGold Version
- Pokemon SoulSilver Version
- Metro 2033
- Fantastic new entry into the classic franchise!
- Solid but flawed expansion.
- Another excellent set of entries into the ‘Gotta catch ‘em all’ series!
- Solid post-apocalyptic shooter.
What games am I playing now? Here is a sampling:
- PC: Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening – nice to go back to this familiar world, but as some have said it does show its flaws early and often.
- PC: Thief: The Dark Project – after just completing the 2004 Thief: Deadly Shadows I wanted to head back to the one that started it all! Some compatibility issues so far, but otherwise a great game!
- DS: Korg DS-10 Plus – not a game but a musical instrument, and one that finally exploits the expanded DSi capabilities!
- PSP: Lunar: Silver Star Harmony – seems like a pretty typical JRPG so far, but pretty decent in all areas.
So what are you playing? Chime in below!
Enjoy gaming!
