I have been unapologetic in my gushing praise of the video game trading site Goozex. Since mid-2006 I have been a part of the site, which has saved me literally thousands of dollars as I can trade away games I’ve played for points, which I can then use to ‘buy’ used games from other members. The site started off trading console games (XBOX, XBOX360, PS2, PS1, DreamCast and GameCube), adding PSP, DS and GBA soon after I joined, and PC and Mac games later that same year. Since then they have added the Wii and PS3 games, and last year added DVD, UMD and Blue-Ray Movies!

Now they have announced that based on popular demand (it really is one of the most popular requests) they are opening up the site to even older games:

Hey everyone,

Welcome to our hot tub time machine b/c we’re adding retro games to the Goozex system! Here’s a quick breakdown of what you can expect to see soon…as in very soon…as in don’t blink b/c you might not get first in line by this tomorrow for Tanks on Atari.

Consoles added to the new Retro Games category:

* Nintendo NES
* Super Nintendo
* Nintendo 64
* Game Boy
* Game Boy Color
* Sega Genesis
* Sega CD
* Atart 2600

We’ll also be moving PS1 and Sega Dreamcast games to the retro category.

The program will be in beta and we’d love to hear your feedback as always.

Enjoy going back to the future…

As noted, the service is in ‘beta’, and there are likely to be holes in their library … but still, if you have an old Sega Genesis or Nintendo 64 sitting in your closet, now’s the time to grab it, get some games from Goozex, unplug the XBOX360 and enjoy some truly classic gaming!

I have loved technology for as long as I can remember - and have been a computer gamer since the PDP-10! Mobile Technology has played a major role in my life - I have used an electronic companion since the HP95LX more than 20 years ago, and have been a 'Laptop First' person since my Compaq LTE Lite 3/20 and Powerbook 170 back in 1991! As an avid gamer and gadget-junkie I was constantly asked for my opinions on new technology, which led to writing small blurbs ... and eventually becoming a reviewer many years ago. My family is my biggest priority in life, and they alternate between loving and tolerating my gaming and gadget hobbies ... but ultimately benefits from the addition of technology to our lives!
