Too busy keeping up with oil spills and the Survivor finale to keep up with your favorite site?  Awww, that’s OK.  We’ll forgive you.  This time.   We’re highlighting a few notables from last week that you may have missed.    For instance, did you realize that all of America’s economic troubles could be remedied with a brand new way of thinking.  Well, maybe not brand new.  The idea came from Bill Maher.  As Dan mentioned in his post, it actually doesn’t sound half bad.  Well, if you’re a techno geek or gal, it doesn’t anyway…

Oh, but there was so much more happening last week.  Maybe you’re anxiously waiting to see what Google and Verizon come up with for their highly anticipated Android tablet?  Perhaps you wonder whether HTC and Sprint’s next superphone offering, the 4G power-packed EVO, could ever sway an  iPhone user?  Let’s take a walk down not-so-distant memory lane to see a few more highlights, reviews and big winners in the Gear Diary universe.

First and foremost, a huge congratulations to Gear Diary readers phoenixfire1965 and laurieboutte, who won copies of ToDo for iPad. We also celebrated a pretty big birthday.   Nope, not one of the writers (although word has it that TODAY is Travis’s birthday   — you can peruse his Amazon Wishlist, if you’d like to thank him for all the reviews and Blue Plate Special goodness).  But, going back to LAST WEEK’S big birthday….it was the Laser of course!    That’s right.  The Laser turned the big 5-0.   Still holding up strong.  Read Dan’s writeup to see why this birthday struck a special chord with our Senior Editor.

Doug covered a huge price drop on Navigon’s MobileNavigator.  If you’ve been holding off on purchasing the application to take care of your turn-by-turn navigation needs, the new price of $49.99 ( a $30 price reduction!) will last only until June 11th.

If you’ve been craving updates on gaming, then Michael’s got you covered.  Recently purchasing an iPad, Michael has put the latest Apple must-have device through its paces.  Does the iPad finally put Apple in league with standalone gaming consoles?  Does the iPad give Apple a true gaming platform?  Read Michael’s take to find out what a true gamer thinks.

Speaking of iPads.  If you already picked one up thinking you’d be able to seamlessly use your iWork desktop with the iPad’s iWork application suite…well, you may want to rethink that strategy.
