If you were watching reports on the Vancouver Olympic games earlier this year, you may have noticed that some of the  biggest buzz (amongst geeks anyway) wasn’t so much about the athletes’ performance, it was over replica Canon 70-200mm L series lens coffee mugs that were given to the press at the Olympic Press Center! Everyone wanted to get their hands on one, and for good reason: the mugs were functional, impossible to get, and they looked amazing!

via Nerd Approved

One site offered the replica 70-200mm L series lens mugs for sale to the general public, but when they ran out, that was it! Other companies stepped in and offered their versions, but they turned the screws on customers by charging $40 to $46 depending upon the version of lens mug ordered.

But now you can buy a replica Canon EOS 24-105mm lens camera lens mug for $24.00 (plus shipping). This just so happens to be the lens I have on my camera, so I am really tempted to order. :-)

It’s equipped with a lens-cap lid, rubber-grip focus and zoom rings, and an auto-focus switch that actually switches! It’s so realistic, you might have to use post-its just to remind yourself which is your mug and which is your lens!

Bonus: You can use the Camera Lens Mug as a quirky planter!

I like exploring new tech; I don't like trying to decipher jargon, nor do I like being talked down to. I figure that you probably feel the same, and that's why you're here. Welcome! =)
