Impulse Sales to Support Child’s Play: Play for the Cause

Posted on 02 September 2010 by

This is sort of a ‘two-fer’: a great sale, and an easy way to support a great charity!

The Child’s Play Charity created by web comic Penny Arcade is raising money to provide toys and games for kids in hospitals all over the world. It has large fund-raising drives each year, and last year raised more than $1.75 Million! That is aside from the used games and sent in by individuals all over the world! It is an awesome cause – and as some of the Gear Diary folks have had kids in the hospital for extended stays at some point or another, we can attest to the healing power of toys and games in those situations. The kids love them also! :-)

This year digital download provide Impulse is teaming up with Child’s Play and providing a portion of EVERY sale to the charity! Not only that they are having a massive sale with more than 100 games at discounts up to 50% off!

I had actually visited the Impulse site this morning and saw the 50% off Dragon Age and thought ‘wow, great deal, I might have to put up a post about this!’. Then I checked my email and saw it was part of a huge sale with proceeds going to the Child’s Play charity! I will definitely be checking to see which games I don’t already own and buying as much as possible tonight – and I urge you to do the same! Head on over to Impulse Now!

Here are some details from the 2009 fundraising close-out:

I have loved technology for as long as I can remember - and have been a computer gamer since the PDP-10! Mobile Technology has played a major role in my life - I have used an electronic companion since the HP95LX more than 20 years ago, and have been a 'Laptop First' person since my Compaq LTE Lite 3/20 and Powerbook 170 back in 1991! As an avid gamer and gadget-junkie I was constantly asked for my opinions on new technology, which led to writing small blurbs ... and eventually becoming a reviewer many years ago. My family is my biggest priority in life, and they alternate between loving and tolerating my gaming and gadget hobbies ... but ultimately benefits from the addition of technology to our lives!
