I’ve always been a supporter of “Product Red.” The charity, which teams up with various designers and manufacturers, creates “red” versions of their products and part of the proceeds benefit the Global Fund to Fight Against AIDS. When the new iPod Nano was announced I ordered myself a Product Red version.
But it looks like this past weekend Bono. the lead singer of the Irish Rock band U2, committed a big gadget no-no. It seems during a visit to the Prime Minister of Turkey Bono offered up, as a gift, an older iPod Nano just two days before a new version is being released! How could he?!
In all seriousness, while visiting Turkey this past weekend for a concert U2, the Irish rock band, met with the Turkish Prime Minister. During the meeting the band’s lead singer, Bono presented the PM with a “Product Red” version of the iPod Nano. The Irish rock star also told Erdoğan he knew the prime minister was a great fan of Turkish classical music but asked that he also “reform” his tastes. The prime minister then posed with the band for the press to take photos although the rest of their meeting occurred behind closed doors.
You can watch a video of the presentation here.
