Win an 8GB iPod Touch and MORE in the “Are You a List Pro?” ListPro List Writing Contest

We have already contacted Larry T and our other winners, and we want to thank them and everyone else who entered for participating. You can expect to see quite a few lists filtering onto the ListPro List Database over the next few days.

Ilium Software, makers of such Palm and Windows Mobile (and more recently iPhone) classics as eWallet, NewsBreak, and yes — ListPro, has offered to sponsor an amazing contest with us!

One first-place winner will receive an 8 GB iPod touch and all available titles by Ilium Software, and one second place winner will receive all available titles by Ilium Software. Five runners-up will receive ListPro for Windows PC and one other Ilium Software title of the winner’s choice.

As you have probably gathered by the title and screenshot above, this contest is focused on their product ListPro, an app which allows you to create and maintain lists that are customized to your specific needs. The best thing is that ListPro is not just a simple task maker or grocery list; while it can be either of those, it is also an excellent micro-database program.

You want a list with checkboxes, dates, and calculated columns, to name a few? ListPro can do that. You need outlining, indenting, and highlighting in your list? It’s all at your fingertips. ListPro can be customized almost any way you can imagine.

List Portals make it easier than ever to create some of the most popular types of lists. Each portal is geared toward a specific type of list making experience, with templates, controls, and features specially selected for lists of a particular type.

But perhaps the most important feature — and the one which inspired this contest — is the database of sample ListPro lists submitted by people just like us … people who have events, things and people they needs to keep track of. Some examples of things which can be tracked with ListPro include

So here’s the deal: Ilium Software would like to expand their database of user-created lists, and that is where this contest comes in. All you have to do is download ListPro (it’s FREE because it is ad supported), take a moment to familiarize yourself with the program, and then create something useful!

The contest starts now and we’ll stop taking entries midnight CT Saturday, October 2nd; the winner will be notified by Wednesday, October 6th. This is not a random drawing contest; we are looking for lists which are useful, well-done, and contain useful information.

Rules

1. How to Enter

1. Send your contest entries to Gear Diary via email to: contest@geardiary.com
2. The email you send must include the header ListPro Contest and contain the following information:

Your name

Your address

Your phone number

A short description of your list

2. List Format

1. Entries must be created in ListPro 5.1 format.
2. The predefined ‘item’ column must be used, although it can be renamed.
3. The predefined ‘item’ column must be the first text column in the list (checkboxes, flags, dates, etc. can come before it if you want.) If you don’t do this, indenting won’t work properly for people who use your list.
4. Lists should be formatted to look great on both ListPro for Windows PC AND ListPro for iOS (iPhone/iPod touch)

3. List Content

1. Lists containing copyrighted material will be immediately rejected. (Song lyrics, book texts, etc.)
2. Templates, samples, and examples are not eligible.
3. Duplicates of lists already posted at the List Exchange will not be considered unless they are a SIGNIFICANT improvement over the original.
4. Only lists written in English can be accepted.

4. List Size

1. Lists must contain either 100 items with at least a column or two of additional detail, or have an equivalent amount of content.
2. The submitted “list” can be a single ListPro file containing one or multiple lists as necessary.
3. Lists larger than 500 KB after compaction must be submitted in a zip file.

5. Winner Selection

1. The staff of Ilium Software will review all lists entered and choose the 10 best lists to present to the Gear Diary Editors.
2. The Editors will rate each on the following criteria:

1) Content

Is the content valuable, interesting, widely useful and complete?

2) Presentation

Is the list presented in a manner that makes it easy to use, pleasant to look at and simple to navigate? Does it look great on both Windows PC and iOS?

3) Execution

Does the list use the features of ListPro properly, cleverly and efficiently?

6. The Fine Print

1. All submitted lists become the property of Ilium Software.
2. Ilium Software and Gear Diary reserve the right to post or not post any and all submitted lists partially or in their entirety.
3. Limit one entry per person.
4. By entering, participants, (a) agree to be bound by the official rules and the decisions of the judges; (b) agree to release Ilium Software and Gear Diary and their respective employees and agents from any and all liability, loss, damage or injury resulting from participation in this contest or awarding, receipt, possession use and/or misuse of any prize awarded herein and acknowledges that Ilium Software and Gear Diary, and their respective employees and agents have neither made nor are in any manner responsible or liable for any warranty, representation, or guarantee, express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to any prize including, but not limited to, its quality, mechanical condition or fitness for a particular purpose; and (c) consent to use of his/her name, photograph and/or likeness for advertising and promotional purposes in connection with this contest without additional compensation, unless prohibited by law. Winner will be responsible for all applicable taxes on the prize. Subject to federal, state and local laws and regulations. Ilium Software and Gear Diary reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to modify, suspend or terminate the contest.

1. Winner Selection:
   1. Winners will be selected from among all eligible entries received  on or about October 2, 2010; they will be chosen by Gear Diary editors, the judges of the contest, whose decisions are final on all matters relating to the contest. Winners will be notified by email. In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of the person submitting an entry, the entry will be deemed to be submitted by the person in whose name the email account is registered. Return of any prize or prize notification as undeliverable will result in forfeiture of prize and selection of an alternate winner.
2. Who Can Enter:
   1. Employees of Gear Diary or Ilium Software and their respective agents, affiliates, subsidiary and parent companies, sales representatives, marketing affiliates and partners, distributors, advertising and promotion agencies and members of the immediate families or household of each are not eligible.
