Streaming music has made huge inroads over the last year or so, but according to this article has yet to fully gain mindshare with most folks. The folks at the recently launched Rdio are hoping to grow mindshare organically through a Facebook giveaway!

Here are some details:

Today we’re kicking off the Rdio Free Subscription Sweepstakes! We’re giving away a 1-year Unlimited subscription every day until Christmas. Yep, that’s right—30 days and 30 opportunities for you to win a year of music on Rdio. We’re picking a winner from each day’s entries, so come back often. Check out the Sweepstakes tab on our Facebook page to find out how to enter and see the official rules.

Rdio is being touted as an alternative to the Europe-only Spotify service, and offers social music exploration. It was created by the founders of Skype, and formally launched in August. According to this review, the service has enough agreements with publishers to capture most stuff in folks iTunes collections, which gives them great capability to stream what you love, allow you to share playlists, and get robust recommendations based on what you already love!

The catch? You are paying $10 a month (for web and mobile access, $5 for web only) and don’t get any music to keep. Whether that works for you is very much based on how you listen to music and your own personal value proposition for this sort of streaming site. But it is definitely worth checking out – and of course the option to get a year for free is just fantastic!

Head on over to Rdio’s Facebook page to get more details and enter to win!
