Going to CES?  (Or simply going to Vegas?)  Well, BodyMedia–makers of the BodyMedia FIT Armband BW–wants to show you just what their product can do by attaching it to one of their interns while he wanders about the CES and Vegas.

I know:  it sounds kinda crazy for the intern to me, too.  But BodyMedia wants to give you a real-world demo.  And what does the Armband do, exactly?  Well:

A wearable body monitoring system, the BodyMedia FIT Armband BW uses four unique sensors to track thousands and thousands of data readings, outputting them to show you your calories burned, steps taken, physical activity and sleep duration and efficiency. Now outfitted with Bluetooth® wireless technology, send the results straight to an app on your smartphone (iPhone or Android) for a minute-by-minute update to help you fight the battle of the bulge. A convenient dashboard shows you how you are netting out for the day, as well as allows you to track your food intake through a database of over 30,000 items.

So you won’t have to guess as to whether it works or not, because BodyMedia is planning on showing you.  And what will ol’ Nick be doing?  Why . . .

Have you ever thought about many calories you could burn while skydiving into the Strip from 13,000 feet in the air?  What about the consistency of sleep you are actually getting during a twenty minute nap on a lounge chair next to the pool?  Wonder no more – BodyMedia’s intern, Nic, is here to give you constant updates on how many calories you burn during any Vegas vacation!  Starting January 6th,Nic the Intern will be exploring and experiencing Las Vegas during the Consumer Electronics Show (January 6th – 9th).  He will capture every minute, every activity and every calorie burned on his BodyMedia FIT Armband BW – so what happens in Vegas, will actually be broadcast to the entire Internet!

The armband itself goes for an MSRP  $249.00, while subscriptions to the monitoring service vary according to length:  a one-month subscription costs $12.95, a six-month subscription costs $9.95 a month, and a 12-month subscription costs $6.95 a month.  Check it out.

Riding the nerd wave, he got a Computer Science degree and entered the tech industry at a young age, deciding after a year and a half of front-line phone technical support that he should try something, *anything* else. He settled on technical writing, and has been cranking out documentation for companies like Unisys, SGI, Cisco, Juniper, and many others ever since.
