So I was listening to NPR the other day, and one of the stories that they did was about this web site called Kickstarter, which the Kickstarter folks describe as the “largest funding platform for creative projects in the world”. The idea that the Kickstart folks had was sort-of based in the whole idea of web stuff going viral–they will host your proposal, be it an idea for a theater performance, a new product, or whatever–and will provide you the means to generate some start-up funds. We’ve talked about them before, Dan specifically has highlighted how diverse they are with the Vere Sandal Company project. While originally they were thinking of performing and perhaps fine arts–help artists start stuff up that they couldn’t get grants for and whatnot–a lot of small companies with good ideas that couldn’t get funding through vulture venture capitalists have used Kickstart to, well, kick start their businesses.
I bring this up because I have here in my virtual hand an iPhone gadget designed and produced by one of those very companies: the Hipoflex iPhone 4 camera accessory and stand. The Hipoflex, which goes for an MSRP of $20, provides you a way to take pictures and videos in both landscape and portrait mode, but with your iPhone down near your hip instead of you having to hold it up to your face. It also acts as a nice little stand. So if you both want to support small businesses, as well as get yourself a piece of new gear for your iPhone, I urge you to check it out.
Full information below.
Its sleek design and ease-of-use make it the ideal accessory for taking pictures and videos on the go.
The unique features of the Hipoflex™ allow you to explore new avenues with your iPhone.
With the Hipoflex™, you take pictures or record videos while holding your iPhone in a natural position. Or use it as a stand to watch movies, surf the web or record a live performance, hands-free!
Take pictures and record videos in a more natural position. Think about how you hold your phone while texting vs. how you hold it when you currently take a picture. No more holding upright in front of you. This is an iPhone, not a simple camera!
