Seems like our 5th Anniversary contest are spawning even more contests! So let’s keep going.

Before we do, here’s a reminder that we already have some great contests going. There is the

There is the Gear Diary at 5 Giveaway: Trick Out Your iPhone 4

and the

Gear Diary at 5: Sena’s Got Your iPad 2 Covered Contest.

Now on to the giveaway. We have a number of items to give to one lucky reader.

Today we are starting our Prog Rock is Good for Your Soul Contest. Thanks to Scott Schorr at Lazy Bones Recordings, we have a copy of the new CD Levin-Torn-White to give away.

I recently reviewed the CD Levin-Torn-White from the great musicians Tony Levin, David Torn and Alan White. Levin is best known for his amazing contributions to King Crimson and Peter Gabriel, as well as innovating instruments such as the Chapman Stick. David Torn first came to my attention through the excellent ‘Cloud About Mercury’ CD in 1986 and is just a stellar guitarist. And Alan White has been the drummer for Yes for nearly 40 years!

Together this trio has produced an uncompromising and intense collection of instrumental music sure to open your ears and your brain!

In case you missed the review, here is the promo video featuring ‘No Warning Lights’:

We have ONE CD to give away.

We also have the JLab Wave we reviewed recently.

And finally… and this is big…

AudioEngine W1 and AudioEngine W2. They will let you free your music by taking audio from your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad and stream it to your home stereo system. At an MSRP of $99 each they aren’t cheap but they do sound great. Dan got these for review when he owned and wrote for a different site so they have some wear markings but they work as well as they did the day they arrived for review.

So how can you enter to win? Simple

Step 1. I mentioned Tony Levin in my review of the 2010 album from the person who replaced him in King Crimson as bassist. Who was the person, and give the link to the review!

Step 2. A few months ago Alan White played on an album I reviewed – find it and provide the link!

Step 3. Name your favorite prog rock group and album!

The fine print

The contests will cover the next two weeks leading us to September 30th, the actual anniversary of Gear Diary. This week we will be giving away a ton of review items. Almost all of them have been opened and lightly used for review, but all are in perfect working order without any significant cosmetic blemishes. Most have original packaging and any accompanying paperwork.

Each contest will last no more than two days with some taking far less time than that. To enter there will be some activity, task or challenge connected to each and every one of them. Among other things, we hope that these contests help you get to know the site and all of us even better.

The winners will be announced here on the site (not directly by e-mail), and will have just 24 hours from the time the announcement goes live to email us with their name and shipping address. After 24 hours, we reserve the right to either pick another winner or do a new contest with that item. Translation: if you enter a contest keep checking the site to see if you won.

Since we are going to have so many different items to give away over the next 14 or so days, we won’t be shipping any of them until the beginning of October, so please be patient with us. We promise, if you win one of the contests you will be getting your prize as soon as we can possibly make it happen. (And in advance, apologies, but we will only be shipping within the USA.)

I have loved technology for as long as I can remember - and have been a computer gamer since the PDP-10! Mobile Technology has played a major role in my life - I have used an electronic companion since the HP95LX more than 20 years ago, and have been a 'Laptop First' person since my Compaq LTE Lite 3/20 and Powerbook 170 back in 1991! As an avid gamer and gadget-junkie I was constantly asked for my opinions on new technology, which led to writing small blurbs ... and eventually becoming a reviewer many years ago. My family is my biggest priority in life, and they alternate between loving and tolerating my gaming and gadget hobbies ... but ultimately benefits from the addition of technology to our lives!
