Get a 6-Tracker Soundtrack Sampler for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Soundtrack for FREE!

Posted on 02 December 2011

I was thrilled when I heard Daniel Craig would be playing Mikael Blomkvist in the upcoming David Fincher version of the Stieg Larsson novel – he seemed better suited to the role than Michael Nyqvist from the original. Whether or not the rest of the cast, the screenplay and the reworked version from Fincher live up to the book and Swedish film remains to be seen. But Fincher returned to a familiar ‘Social Network’ well for the music, having Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross provide the soundtrack – and once again we are getting a teaser release of a few tracks. You can grab them here for the price of your Continue reading on Gear Diary …

Kobo Launches New “Book Club” With Kobo Touch Purchase

Posted on 02 December 2011

Kobo may be small, but they’re scrappy, and clearly not afraid of the Author’s Guild. They don’t have the infrastructure to combat Amazon’s free Prime ebooks, but they are offering a modified program, sort of like the Kobo “Book of the Month” club. You get your choice of 3 books in January, and it sounds like you’ll get a similar choice each month. Kobo provides the promo code, you pick the book, and then it’s happy reading time! Unlike Amazon’s program, Kobo’s is obviously much smaller. If they offer 3 per month, that’s only a 36-book program. However, this is free with a Kobo Touch, instead of a $79 yearly subscription. Plus if this is successful, it very… Continue reading on Gear Diary …

Mobile Edge Has Got Your Back If You Are Worried About Privacy

Posted on 01 December 2011

Are you feeling a bit spooked by all the recent stories about how our mobile phones are transmitting our GPS data, who we are talking to, and other possibly sensitive information? Here is one solution that might help: buy a bag that has a wireless security shield.  What that means is that when your phone is placed in the pocket — even if it is turned on and otherwise fully functioning, no data, calls or GPS will be able to come or go. Wireless Security Shield™ In an effort to help provide ultimate security for your Bluetooth enabled Cell Continue reading on Gear Diary …

The SCOTTEVEST Women’s Lola Puffer Jacket Review

Posted on 01 December 2011

I have a new favorite jacket, and it’s not only warm, it’s a stunner; say hello to the SCOTTEVEST Lola Puffer jacket. Composed of a quilted 100% nylon shell and stuffed with 100% fluffy polyester, the Lola is soft, extremely warm (without being too heavy), and it cuts the wind on those mind-numbingly chilly days without making you feel sweaty if you are still wearing it after the afternoon warms things up. The Lola comes in three colors – Sparkle (which is a light grey), Rhapsody (a deep blue), and Fluff (a lovely white). All three jackets have a contrasting bright yellow fabric tape with a flashy silver metal zipper and zipper pull running up the middle; bright yellow fabric tape is also at the cuffs.… Continue reading on Gear Diary …

Humble Bundle Adds Dungeons of Dredmor

Posted on 01 December 2011

Last week the latest Humble Bundle was launched, and now it has been made MUCH better with the inclusion of the awesome dungeon crawler Dungeons of Dredmor (you can see I have a strong opinion on this one!. Here is the description for Dungeons of Dredmor: Dungeons of Dredmor is a fresh yet faithful take on the “roguelike” genre, featuring deep character customization, turn-based gameplay, and unrelenting difficulty that makes each victory sweeter than the last. Dredmor’s randomly generated levels and huge roster of items, skills, and abilities make for a vastly replayable dungeon-crawling experience. But that isn’t all – you can now also get the source code for some of… Continue reading on Gear Diary …

Cryptic Studios Releases New ‘Story Trailer’ for Neverwinter MMORPG

Posted on 01 December 2011

It has been nearly six months since we heard anything about the upcoming game Neverwinter. Back at E3 we got word that although Cryptic games had been sold off, they had maintained the rights to the game and it was being retooled with a planned Q4-2011 release. Well, while we can safely say it isn’t going to hit that release window, but we do know that rather than the originally planned co-op online RPG, we will be getting a ‘free to play’ MMORPG sometime in late 2012. The game will still be story-centric, and Cryptic has released a new trailer to show off the new direction … but it is just really cool… Continue reading on Gear Diary …

Hyperdevbox Brings ‘Generation of Chaos’ to Android Phones and Tablets

Posted on 01 December 2011

Early this year I wrote a snarky article about the Android port of ‘Spectral Souls’, reflecting on my experience with the PSP release to pre-judge the outcome. The folks at Hyperdevbox offered me a copy of the game to review, which I accepted and we had just worked things out and I got my copy of the game and played a short bit before I got my Droid Pro. Sadly the game was a closed copy, so it wouldn’t update and was several versions behind the current release – and worse yet it wouldn’t work on any phone but my original Droid. So I never got to do a full review -… Continue reading on Gear Diary …

Posted on 01 December 2011

Deals like this one day sale. You can grab any or all of these steals in the Mac App store today only. Check them all out here Continue reading on Gear Diary …
