Sponsor Love

Posted on 20 May 2009 by Judie Lipsett

It’s that time again…time for me to recognize all of the wonderful sponsors who believe in and who so graciously support Gear Diary…

I’ll start by mentioning our newest sponsor, LogicBuy. Have you noticed the near daily Gear Sponsored blurbs that Wayne started posting last week? Not to be confused with the GearDeals he has always scoured the net to find, these are sponsored posts pointing you to the deal of the day on the LogicBuy site. We’d like to thank Thai and the gang at LogicBuy for their support, and we hope that you all enjoy some extra savings when taking advantage of their deals.

Next is our original and longest running backer: Skooba Design (formerly RoadWired). Michael Hess believed in this site from the beginning and offered his company’s support. I’ll always be grateful that he took an early interest in us, and I hope that you all will show your appreciation for his leap of faith by clicking his ad and perusing his wares. You can see past Skooba Design / RoadWired reviews here.

Mingo Chui and the gang from PDair have been another longtime sponsor. I’ve been reviewing PDair items for years, and am pleased to take this opportunity to thank them for supporting us. If you haven’t clicked their button recently, then do! Once on their site, you’ll find that PDair has a solution for just about every one of your mobility needs. On this site you will find quite a few reviews of their cases and other products.

BeyzaCases has also been a faithful supporter of this site, and we truly appreciate them! Gear Diary readers have grown familiar with their products over the last few years, but Beyza has been around for quite a while. As Ali, my contact there told me some time ago, “We, as Neta Trades Ltd have been in this business since 1998, but we have started to produce and markeket under our own brandname BeyzaCases in 2004. Untill that time we were only producing our leather Cases for well known brandnames as a confidential contractor. We are still producing for many brands in same way. But since 2004 we wanted to be in this market as BeyzaCases for to share our experience and to show our quality. We are offering competitive wholesale pricess to our clients including fast and free shipment with a Great service. All BeyzaCases products reach our clients with “LifeTime Warranty”.” We have reviewed quite a few BeyzaCases’ branded products on Gear Diary, and you can see those reviews here. You can check out their latest offerings by clicking here.

I would also like to thank all of the companies who have sponsored contests through Gear Diary. Off the top of my head (which automatically means I am forgetting some), these include: HP, Scooba Design, Vaja, HTC, Epson, Speck, Ultimate Ears, BlueAnt Wireless, Astraware, PPC Techs, and so many others are the companies that spice up our usual offerings of news, reviews, and opinion pieces. We truly appreciate them! If your company would like to sponsor Gear Diary through a contest or advertisement, you can find details on how to do so, here.

As a reminder, another way to support Gear Diary is by signing up for a free one-year subscription to any of the Free Tech magazines from the Trade Publication button on the far right sidebar. You can purchase software (as well as hardware accessories) from the Gear Diary Store, and we also have an affiliate relationship with ProClip, makers of almost every in-vehicle mount solution you might ever need.

I would also like to thank YOU for reading Gear Diary, because without your continued support…what would be the point? :-D

ProClip offers adjustable mount that grips and charges an encased iPhone or Touch

Posted on 31 March 2009 by Wayne Schulz

proclip 915290 tilt swivel iphone case.jpg

ProClip have just announced a new design for their iPhone and iPod Touch vehicle mounts. Recognizing that nearly everyone keeps their expensive electronics in some type of case they’ve added a vehicle mount that accommodates the devices without requiring case removal.

The Adjustable Holder with Tilt Swivel and Pass-Through Connector will
make docking and undocking, your iPhone or iPod touch, easier and more
convenient. Designed to accommodate your encased Apple iPhone or iPod
touch, this Holder will adjust from a width of 2.3″ (60mm) to 3.2″
(82mm). It allows you to connect your stereo cable, charging cable or
other iPhone or iPod touch dock connector cable to the base of the
holder to create a docking station for your device. You no longer need
to plug and unplug the cable each time. Your iPhone is conveniently on
the dash within easy reach and slides in and out of the holder with one
hand. The Holder is custom made with a neat and discreet design and
tilts 15 degrees in any direction for optimal viewing.

I have ProClip mounts in both my cars and aside from the fact that they’re simple to install – there’s no better feeling than turning the corner and NOT having your expensive device go sliding off the seat and onto the floor!

ProClip for BlackBerry 8900 – easy to install, easy to upgrade, no gooey mess

Posted on 23 March 2009 by Wayne Schulz

proclip 8900.jpg

In the last two years I’ve used a ProClip dashboard mount on my BlackBerry 8700, 8800, 8300, and now my 8900. What I like about this mount is that my BlackBerry is held firmly in a place where I can easily read the display and it stays up off my car seat where it could slide around onto the floor, become damaged and possibly lost from sliding out the door.

I installed my first ProClip three years ago. Because you order a model that is specific to your car make, model and year – it clicks neatly into place with no messy tape required. Since I installed it the mount has been rock solid. Each time I’ve upgraded devices I just order a new mount from ProClip. Simply unscrewing the old mount and fastening the new mount is all that’s needed to upgrade. My BlackBerry 8900 ProClip took under one minute to install as a replacement — and that includes the 30 seconds I spent admiring the new device. Continue Reading

ProClip releases mount for BlackBerry 8900 and 8350i

Posted on 12 March 2009 by Wayne Schulz

ProClip announces the availability of auto mounts for the BlackBerry 8900 and 8350i. I have a ProClip for every version of BlackBerry I’ve owned (updating the clip for new models is easy – you just unscrew one mount and insert the next). What I like about ProClip is there’s no messy adhesive with the mounts that I’ve used. Simply click the custom fitted based (the devices are sold separately – select the right base for your car and then you select the holder for your device).

I’m about the biggest moron around with respect to installing anything in my car. I think my total installation time on these was about 15 minutes. Recommended.

Custom In-Car Mounting System from ProClip Reviewed

Posted on 13 November 2008 by Christopher Spera

Mike Temporale over at Mobile Jaw has a good review of custom in-car mounting systems for your mobile devices and your vehicle.  Mike starts out the review by saying -

I don’t think I need to sit here and tell any of you that driving and using your electronic devices is a bad idea. Your attention should be focused on the road and the other cars around you on the road. Trying to dig your phone out of your pocket, or trying to hold it and the steering wheel at the same time, is just asking for problems.

I’m a huge fan of mounting systems and think they are a NECESSARY part of any setup you might have, want or need for your device and your car.  Sticking devices in cup holders, the empty seat or in your lap while they are plugged in to a car charger just doesn’t do it.  Unsecure devices lead to accidents… Give Mike’s article a read.  I think you’ll find it very valuable…

Sponsor Love

It’s that time again…time for me to recognize all of the wonderful sponsors who believe in and who so graciously support Gear Diary…

First is Mingo Chui and the gang from PDair, one of our continuing sponsors.

Skooba Design (formerly RoadWired), is our original and longest running backer.

Next is Ciao. They have the search box which you see in the far right column, and when you enter an item you’ll see what happens. Who and what exactly is Ciao? According to their site, “Ciao is a multi-million-strong online community that critically reviews and rates millions of products and services for the benefit of other consumers. Available free of charge to consumers in local language versions in major western European and North American markets, Ciao combines unbiased consumer reviews and up-to-date price information from hundreds of online retailers to make it the most comprehensive source of intelligent shopping on the web. Testimony to Ciao’s success, more than 38 million consumers visit the site every month, making it one of the largest shopping portals in North America and Europe.”

Last but never least is BeyzaCases. While the name may not be familiar with many of our readers, BeyzaCases products should be. As Ali, my contact there said back in May, “We, as Neta Trades Ltd have been in this business since 1998, but we have started to produce and markeket under our own brandname BeyzaCases in 2004.
