Free Wi-Fi for AT&T iPhone users is once again being advertised on the AT&T web site. Back in May 2008 AT&T had a similar free Wi-Fi plan on their site only to remove it a week later. AT&T has been working hard to build out their Wi-Fi network. In February AT&T announced that they would start providing Wi-Fi services in Starbucks locations nationwide, ousting T-Mobile who had been providing services to Starbucks since 2002. AT&T provides Wi-Fi service to over 17,000 locations nationwide. UPDATE: Looks like AT&T changed their mind AGAIN. My guess is that they ultimately are going to launch free Wi-Fi for iPhone subscribers but may need to post instructions on how to log in. I stopped this morning at the Glastonbury CT Starbucks and was not successful at logging in for free on my iPhone.

Starbucks and AT&T have revealed the details of their much discussed free Wi-Fi plan (up to 2 hours daily). To use the free access you must create an AT&T Wi-Fi account, use your Starbucks card once within the last 30 days (loading money to the card counts as use - and loading money is free), and agree to let AT&T spam you send up to four emails per year. In exchange you get access to a maximum of 2 hours of free Wi-Fi per day which has to be in one session (you can’t leave and come back in the same day). Update: Tested this at the Glastonbury CT Starbucks and the AT&T Wi-Fi account I created via the AT&T page (link below) allowed me to connect.
