Pre-order promotion ending this week - New Checkthrough video now online
The much-anticipated, patent-pending Checkthrough “Checkpoint Friendly” laptop bag from Skooba is finally close to shipping. There are already thousands of Checkthrough bags on pre-order, and we hope to get all of those out in approximately 2 weeks.
This Friday, October 17th, is the last day to take advantage of our pre-order program, which guarantees availability and shipment of pre-ordered bags in the first “wave”, as well as a special promotional offer. Checkthrough will be covered in huge-circulation magazines, as well as major national TV news shows, in the coming weeks, so we are expecting to be swamped. Pre ordering is the best way to lock-in a bag and be among the first to get one. Finally, check out our new video showing all of the features and functionality of the Checkthrough Bag in detail.
If you’re in the market for a laptop bag to help you breeze through airport checkpoints, this may be the one for you. The bag retails for $140 USD.

If you’ve been patiently waiting for the Skooba Design Checkpoint Friendly laptop bags to appear, your wait will soon be over. We’ve just received word that Skooba Design is now taking pre-orders for their Checkthrough (checkpoint-friendly) bags, and the bags are scheduled to begin shipping in about 8 weeks. Here’s the latest…
Based on the e-mails, phone calls, retailer and consumer order requests we’ve received since the original announcement of the product–now well into the thousands–we will have our hands… and our sewing machines… full to make sure we produce enough to keep everyone happy through the holidays and beyond. So, we have set up the pre-order option as the best way to insure that those who want these bags can “lock them in.” We also are offering some incentives for early action (info on the order form).

We’ve mentioned some of the bags that will comply with their “Checkthrough” regulations the past, and now the TSA has finally posted the official procedures for getting through their checkpoints without actually removing your laptop; of course all will hinge on consumers purchasing the proper type of bag…
TSA screens laptops to see if the electronics have been tampered with. TSOs know what the inside of a computer should look like, and can recognize irregularities. This is why they need an unobstructed view as the item moves through the X-ray machine.
Purchasing one of these bags will not guarantee that you can leave your laptop in your bag for screening. If a TSO finds that the bag does not present a clear and distinct image of the laptop separate from the rest of the bag, the laptop will have to be screened separately.

Hot on the heels of my post about Skooba Design’s Checkpoint Friendly bags come these from Mobile Edge. According to an email I received from Matthew Olivolo, their Director of Public Relations, they “are going to the airport to do testing on Thursday (July 10) and then pull the trigger on production.” He also mentioned that a full press release will be appearing later this week…
