A new Sony eBook reader was announced in New York City yesterday. This version features more memory (up to 350 books) as well as a 6 inch screen that is now touch sensitive. Screen lighting is included in this model though it reportedly is not a backlight. Rather the screen is lit from two LEDs that are side mounted. Hopefully the inclusion of a touch screen will carry over to Amazon’s Kindle which is widely expected to be introducing an updated version of their popular eBook reader later this year or early next. Pricing on the new Sony model is expected to be $400 when it hits store shelves in November 2008.
