Q-Chat vs Nextel Direct Connect Live Demo

Phonescoop had the best CTIA coverage that I’ve seen. I just noticed they posted a video from the show floor that demonstrates the speed of Sprint’s yet to be launched Q-Chat versus Direct Connect. Q-Chat is Sprint’s replacement for the aging Direct Connect walkie talkie feature made popular by construction crews everywhere. In the age of unlimited voice minute plans and unlimited mobile to mobile - I’m not sure Q-Chat (walkie talkie on phone) isn’t already outdated. Take a look at this video. Kudos to Phonescoop for their ability to capture the show floor action with a video that’s well lit and gets right to the demonstration. PS - Q-Chat requires a Sprint EVDO Rev A signal to work

New iRobot Roomba 510 On Woot! - $ 149

If you caught Judie’s review of the Roomba 560 but thought the $349 price tag was steep, you’re in luck. Woot! has the slightly less capable Roomba 510 (fewer accessories) on sale for $ 149 (Amazon has this same model for $249). But hurry, Woot! deals last for only one day. As noted, the Roomba 510 has some limitations and may be a discontinued model. The Woot! forum has a lot of feedback (mostly positive) here - and one Woot! buyer summarizes:

Buyers be warned. The 510 has all the cleaning power of the 5xx series of Roombas, but it cannot be scheduled to go off while you’re away. It cannot be used with a “Home Base” that the robot drives up on, it must be plugged in manually. And it cannot be upgraded to use the “Lighthouses” that allow it to move from room to room, cleaning one room at a time. It’s a great buy, but know the limitations on upgrading the ‘bot’.

Follow this link to Woot!. Still undecided, check out this excellent Amazon video review from Gary Busey Warner.

Do you Hulu..?

There’s been a lot of buzz lately around something called Hulu. Until recently, I had no idea what it was. I saw a couple of articles here and there on the Internet, but nothing really told me what it was…and I wasn’t sure why…just that it would be really cool. Then I decided to click on one of the document links to hulu.com. That’s when I was blown away.

I am a huge fan of nostalgia TV. I am not so crazy about The Love Boat and Fantasy Island…that’s where old, really BAD 70’s TV stars when to try to revive their careers during the 1980’s. In many cases, their career’s heartbeat would blip a couple more times, but that was it. If you got relegated to repeats on either, you were done.
Anyway, until recently, if you wanted to watch any nostalgic TV, you were stuck with Nick at Night or TVLand or some other channel like that. Not any more! Now you can go to the internet to get your Nostalgia TV fix with Hulu!
