Just Released iPhone Game - Poker Stacks

Poker Stacks is brand new in the App Store. I posted on it earlier today over on whatsoniphone and wanted to share it here on Gear Diary, as well. The game’s developer claims it is-

based on games like Bejeweled 2, Tetris, or Bubbles and builds on them in that you are trying to match real poker hands to clear the board and move to the next level.

Moreover, they claim-

If you love games like Trism, Puzzle Quest, Fuzzle, Poker Dice, Glyph, or Aurora Feint and/or you enjoy Video Poker or Texas Hold ‘Em you have to give Poker Stacks a try.

I love Bejeweled and Tetris is nothing short of a classic. Moreover, I was out with a friend last night who adores Trism. So it struck me that mentioning a brand new game in the same context as those amazing ones might border a bit on chutzpah. So I figured it was worth checking out.

I had a chance to play Poker Stacks last night and one thing is already clear… it isn’t chutzpah at all… the game is fantastic!

Speed and Sharpen Your Brain With Lumosity

I recently had the opportunity to review Lumosity’s Speed Brain over on whatsoniphone.com. Lumosity claims the game, and its other website-based challenges, will help sharpen the mind. Lumosity was developed with experts in neuroscience. There are now two main components to the program- the iPhone game Speed Brain and a web-based program and both are worth a look.

Cronk - An iPhone Game Review

One of the things I enjoy most about being part of the Gear Diary team and whatsoniphone.com is the opportunity to get to know some the developers creating apps for the iPhone. Over-all I have found them to be a really interesting, nice and creative bunch. Best of all, as I have discovered more than once, many are committed to constantly improving their apps and are surprisingly receptive to end-user input. This is certainly the case with the game Cronk.

Handmark Glyph for iPhone

I’ve owned a number of games from Handmark and Astraware (part of Handmark).  They have always been polished, high-quality productions.  Now they have released Glyph (from Sandlot Games), an object-removal style game in the vein of Bejeweled.
