Joe Stirt, of Book of Joe fame, sent one of his enigmatic emails last night with the subject line “world-changing”; intrigued, I had to take a look.
What I found may not be world changing in the traditional spirit of the phrase, but it would definitely be quite nice to win one of the 500 SL-2 lights that SunNight Solar is giving away…
Being a different kind of company – focusing on people, the planet and then profits – we are set to launch our new SL2 (SunLight2) or SuperBoGo, solar powered flashlight in a different way as well – we are going to give them away.
There are no charges, nothing to buy and we will send them to you at our cost, from our warehouse in Houston, when they arrive in mid-August. Each is individually numbered – 1/500 and they are in blue ABS plastic and on the side, laser etched – it says “Changing the World – Limited Edition” May 2008.

Earlier this week, I had an email from my friend Joe, pointing to an article he had written about a service Guy Kawasaki is involved with. Alltop is a location where sites of all kinds are categorized and then aggregated so that each section becomes a jumping point for the reader to dive deeper into the sites and subjects mentioned; a virtual magazine rack, if you will.
I was immediately intrigued, and went to take a look…
We help you explore your passions by collecting stories from “all the top” sites on the web. We’ve grouped these collections — “aggregations” — into individual Alltop sites based on topics such as environment, photography, science, Muslim, celebrity gossip, military, fashion, gaming, sports, politics, automobiles, and Macintosh. At each Alltop site, we display the headlines of the latest stories from dozens of sites and blogs.
You can think of an Alltop site as a “digital magazine rack” of the Internet. To be clear, Alltop sites are starting points—they are not destinations per se. The bottom line is that we are trying to enhance your online reading by both displaying stories from the sites that you’re already visiting and helping you discover sites that you didn’t know existed. In other words, our goal is the “cessation of Internet stagnation” by providing “aggregation without aggravation.”

Joe Stirt sent the link to a product which made me do a double take: the Vilcus Dactyloadapter Circuit Tester. Dactyl meaning Finger, for those of you who didn’t catch it; Circuit Tester meaning you plug it in and take the ensuing shock…on purpose. Ummm…okay.
Vilcus dactyloadapter was developed specially for people who enjoy closing electrical circuits with their own fingers.
Many people get a kick out of direct contact with an AC power supply.
To that end, people normally use U-shaped fragments of bare wire, paper clips or even common metal forks.
All these gimmicks are unreliable, short-lived and, most importantly, tend to cause short-circuits or fires.
