It seems as if finding the perfect Bluetooth headset has become a never-ending quest for me; it’s not just about finding one that keeps me from sounding like a fish in a barrel anymore, it’s also about finding one that fits my ear without making me look like a telephone operator or worse – a borg. Just to make things really difficult, so many headsets seem to fall into one of two camps: ridiculously complicated and over-featured or utterly simplistic and featureless.
Finding a headset that strikes a balance between sound, comfort and features has become my mission, and the latest contender is the Plantronics Discovery 975.

I’m not too sure that the Rolling Razor is that much safer to use: after all, nicks and scratches are common with even the most basic stick styles, and I can only imagine the damage I could inflict with something like this. But according to the Rolling Razor site, using one helps to eliminate irritation, nicks, cuts, razor bumps and burn.

If you’ve considered ordering your prescription glasses online after reading my article about the experience, then this may be the extra push that you’ve needed to finally try it. EyeBuyDirect, the company I purchased two pairs of prescription eyeglasses from for $96 complete, is having a two for one sale. That’s right — for as low as $18 you can get two pairs of single vision eyeglasses. The sale is over in two days, nineteen hours at this posting; so if you’ve got your prescription handy, go check out the site!

Last weekend I had the opportunity to be part of a small group of tech bloggers invited to attend several Windows 7 launch events in New York and Washington DC. I wasn’t totally clear on exactly what we would be doing on this trip before going, but I figured no matter what, it would be fun and the food would be good. I was right…

I saw this printer in action in a New York Best Buy last week, and I have to say that it was nothing short of cool. You can get and print maps, recipes, coupons, purchase movie tickets, and do all kinds of other things – directly from the touch panel front of this web connected beast of a printer. Granted, you could do the same from your computer, but being able to do these things without booting up the ol’ desktop is a pretty cool feature; plus the printer itself is pretty nice.
The regular price is $399.99, but you can get yours for $339.99 with free shipping. Not bad for a day’s savings!

One of the things that I love about the Kindle – its eInk screen – is also one of the things that makes using the Kindle a bit difficult when lighting is poor. It seems silly in a way to complain about not being able to read a book in the dark, because it certainly isn’t something anyone could do with the dead tree version, but there are a couple of reasons I think it chafes more than expected when people read from non-backlit devices.
I think many who use eReaders have also experienced reading on other mobile devices, which generally use color-capable LCD screens and are easy to read from in even the worst light. It seems only natural then, that when we pick up an electronic device meant to read books from – that it should also be in color, or at the very least backlit. But of course, they aren’t.
I’ve just received a brand new Case-Mate Kindle2 cover which not only wraps the eReader in a fine leather hardback cover, it also has an amazing integrated lighting system. The Case-Mate Enlighten won’t be available until mid-December, but I wanted to go ahead and give my impressions on this most remarkable wrap.

Oh, the HTC HD2…if ever there was a Windows Phone that drew a collective sigh of envy from all who saw it, this would have to be the one. With its 4.3″ capacitive touch display (finger based – not stylus based!), its 1GHz Snapdragon mobile processor, and its stunning good looks, the HD2 is a Windows Mobile Dream come true. Unfortunately, the earliest models are European versions, meaning they will not work with US 3G. That’s one of the things that has kept me from ordering, but it looks like I will no longer have an excuse to wait, as the HD2 will be available as a US version in early 2010.
You can see a full list of the Euro/UK version HD2’s drool-worthy specs here, but bear in mind that they may slightly change by the time this powerhouse reaches our shores. For Chris Davies’ unboxing and first impressions of the UK model (including a video), be sure to check out SlashGear. You can also see a full review on the HD2 at Mobility Minded.

I am trying to work out Christmas gifts in advance this year; I know, how organized of me…right?
Anyway, there are a couple of people I dearly love, but who are nearly impossible to buy for because they have just about everything they have ever wanted. On the one hand, I am so happy that they are in this position; on the other hand, it sure makes buying gifts difficult! When I ask them what they might like for Christmas, I get nothing but blank looks and a scrunchy face as they try to think of something. Hmm.
Years ago, Julie made me a photo book after our families took a trip to Scotland together. It is still one of the most thoughtful gifts I can remember ever getting from anyone, so when this Picaboo Photo Books special passed through my inbox, I thought it might be just the ticket. Unfortunately it is only for Windows, so I am not yet sure if I will do it — but maybe one of you can benefit from the deal.
You can create and buy one Picaboo Photo Book and get a second copy free when you use the code NVBGF; this offer is only good until November 30; simple books start at $19.99, but they can get much pricier and very elaborate.

Sometimes there is much truth to the saying “the early bird catches the worm.” Take the Walmart specials occurring this Friday – weeks before the Holiday shopping season officially begins.
If you have an X-Box or a 15″ laptop on your list for a special person (maybe yourself!), then you must be at your local Walmart in time to snatch up one of these deals. Not only can you get an Xbox 360 for $199 with a $100 gift card, bringing the price to $99, you can get a 15″ HP laptop for $296. Granted, it’s not a gaming laptop, but it would be perfect for a high school student. Walmart is showing that they will have a minimum of 10 of each per store, and if you are looking for a deal on either, you can’t miss this event. If you miss those specials, you can sonsole yourself with the $29 DVD player or the $498 Sharp 42″ HDTV.
WOW!!
Update 11/06/09 from BFAds:
We’ve got an update about Walmart’s Saturday sale which we covered in our last email.
According to the online description, the Xbox 360 Arcade console is now going to come with an e-Gift Card in place of a regular Gift Card. The only difference between the two is that an e-Gift Card can only be used on Walmart.com and not at Walmart retail locations. Considering Walmart.com offers free shipment to stores, the deal is still really hot.

Quirky has just begun pre-sale of their latest collaborative contraption, the StashCan. $54, charged only if there are enough orders to produce the product, will get you on the list for a sleek looking trash can with a removable plastic liner. There will be no more fumbling in the kitchen cabinet for replacement trash bags, because they store handily in a compartment located in thee top of the StashCan. Clever, right?!
quirky’s StashCan is a kitchen trash can with the added ability to store trash bags in the can itself. No more hassle with drippy bags, and time consuming trash removal. The StashCan makes your trash routine far simpler, cleaner, and speedier. (oh and it looks pretty too!)
Step on StashCan’s foot pedal to open the lid to dispose of your garbage. Once your trash is full, simply open the stainless steel rimmed top and pull out the removable, lightweight, plastic liner containing the full trash. Remove your full trash bag and clean the liner (if necessary).
