Sunstorm Games developed the very first deer hunting game back in 1997.  I can remember playing the game on one of my Motorola flip phones, using the phone’s center navigation pad to move and the OK button to fire.

Times have certainly changed.  The iPhone has brought cell phone games to a whole new level.  Real Deer Hunting, Sunstorm’s latest title, is described as a game that “boasts realistic deer behavior, outstanding graphics and the most immersive hunting experience.”

The XM Radio Skydock for the iPhone is now available for a purchase price of $120.  The dock allows you to insert your iPhone and obtain the XM’s satellite signal via a magnetic antenna that must be mounted on the roof of your car and snaked through to connect to the dock.

Once docked, in addition to being charged, your iPhone gives way to touch controls and a built in FM transmitter for getting the radio’s audio over your car’s stereo.

You’ll also need the special version of the free XM Radio iPhone application from the App Store, and of course a subscription to the service.

The Skydock is available at various online retailers and in brick and mortar stores such as Best Buy, Radio Shack and Apple.

George Hotz, aka Geohot, the iPhone developer responsible for bringing you the blackra1n jailreaking tool has issued a public service announcement.

First off, he was everyone to know that he’s found an exploit in the current 05.11.77 baseband, which is found on phones running the current iPhone OS, version 3.1.2, that allows the phone to be unlocked.  The new tool, named blacksn0w, will be released on November 4th.

Second he issued a reminder.  All the tools he’s created, including the ones that allow the iPhone to be jailbroken and the one that will allow the iPhone to be unlocked are free.  There are several company’s who are offering to unlock and or jailbreak iPhones for a fee.  Geohot even goes as far as to say he’s turning down $10,000 from one of them for the rights to his blacksn0w program.  These company’s benefit from the public’s lack of information and it’s up to us to educate them about these scam artists who are taking advantage of them.

Mac users can now download a Gear Diary Dashboard Widget.  If you don’t know it already, Dashboard Widgets are mini-applications that are opened by clicking the Dashboard icon in your dock or by completing a keyboard short cut.

These applications open all at once and generally help you complete every day tasks or provide you with very target specific information.

Every once and a while a product comes along that really catches my eye.  Such was the case when I spotted an advertisement for the HyperMac external battery in a tech. magazine last month.  The HyperMac is currently the only external battery available for use with Apple’s line of Mac Book computers.  And with the new unibody Mac Book Pro and its built in battery the HyperMac might just be a must have for the true road warrior.

Hyper Shop, the company behind the HyperMac, was kind enough to send me a HyperMac 150Wh battery for review.  I’ve put it to the test and am ready to share my thoughts.

Do you watch a lot a YouTube vidoes?  I certainly do.  One of the problems I routinely face with YouTube is buffering issues.  Often times when I’m watching a video, especially one in hi-def, the video will stop to buffer.  This results in a spinning wheel across the screen and I’m forced to wait for the video to catch up before I can continue watching.  Granted this doesn’t happen with every video I watch, but it happens often enough.

SpeedBit has the solution.  Their SpeedBit Video Accelerator is a small application which you install on your computer and in turn it greatly speeds up your video viewing experience. I just installed the trial and was immediately impressed at how fast the few YouTube videos I watched downloaded.  I experienced no pauses even during the hi-def videos I viewed.

Dave Kaminski’s (Web Video University) independent and unsolicited review of the product reveals how playing an HD video in the US over a very fast 20 mbps Internet connection resulted in 25 buffering stops, while watching the same video with Speedbit Video Accelerator installed eliminated those 25 buffering stops to just 1 split second stop.

Looks like the Light Brite toy I played with as a kid has gotten a major hi-tech overhaul.

Sketch Art from Hi-Tech Art allows you to make your own art by sticking LEDs.  You use the included background to stick LEDs into and watch them light up.  The board has no circuitry, no soldering, no resistors.

GeoLife Ltd and PosiMotion have announced that they have submitted an application to the Apple App Store which enables personal turn-by-turn navigation on both the iPod Touch and the iPhone. When the application is approved it will be the first navigation solution available for the iPod touch.

Navigation on the iPod Touch is made possible through Geolife’s Navmii software and PosiMotion’s G-Fi mobile network/GPS router.  iPod Touch owners with both the hardware and software will be able to transform their iPod Touch into a personal navigation device with smart routing, interactive maps and spoken directions.

“To celebrate this achievement, the G-Fi will go on sale for $99, while supplies last.”

The Navmii iPhone application will be available for £29.99 for UK maps and $39.99 for US maps. A combined G-Fi mobile network/GPS router and Navmii software application for iPod Touch will also be available once the Navmii application has been approved by Apple.
