Sprint’s Motorola Q and Q9C apparently discontinued

sprint motorola Q9c.jpg

The Everything Q forums have been buzzing for the last two days about the disappearance of both the Motorola Q and the Motorola Q9C from the Sprint web site. Some forum members have speculated that both phones are just out of stock or have been pulled to apply a WM 6.1 refresh. However more than a few forum regulars have chimed in to say that their local stores are telling them that the Sprint Motorola Q and Q9C are discontinued. Additionally a couple members of the forum have gotten the same “discontinued” explanation upon calling into Sprint’s customer service desk. So as of now the Sprint Motorola Q and Q9C are not on their web site. Whether they re-appear or are replaced with another model is anyone’s guess. Until then at least we can look forward to the Treo 800W which seems ready to launch on Sprint July 13.

Sprint’s Motorola Q9C Windows Mobile 6.1 Upgrade Available NOW

sprint q9c wm6.1 upgrade.jpg

Users of the Sprint Motorola Q9C are being told by Sprint support that a Windows Mobile 6.1 update will be available before the end of summer. Looks like summer’s end just arrived because a user at the Everything Q forums is reporting that the Motorola Q9C upgrade that was just posted by Motorola does in fact upgrade the Sprint Moto Q9c to Windows Mobile version 6.1. I don’t have a Motorola Q9C to test this on, but the screen capture seems legit.

Motorola Q9C Launches May 9 on Verizon

motorola q9c verizon wireless.jpg

Verizon adds the Motorola Q9C to their online smartphone lineup beginning tomorrow (give it a few more weeks to hit the retail stores). Key differences between the Motorola Q9C and the existing Q9M are that the Q9C has expanded 128 mb of memory and support for VZ Navigator. To summarize the differences succinctly “m has the music crap and c does not“. Cost will be $299.99. Customers who sign up for a voice and data plan at the time of purchase get $100 off via instant rebate with an additional $50 mail in rebate bringing your cost to $149.99. PS - Sprint has this same model (Motorola Q9C) for the same price but if you grab it under their awesome SERO plan - you’ll pay zilch for data and also receive unlimited SMS and MMS.
