I fully expected to spend as much as $500 - 600 on top of my usual monthly bill during a week abroad between phone calls, text messages and whatever data I didn't put on the Spanish SIM I had just purchased on eBay.
Even though I had added AT&#38;T's $5.99/month "World Traveler" International Voice Roaming package (which meant that I would pay 99¢/minute to call home from Spain versus the <a

Of course the one that most captivated us was the <a

It will be shipping with Gingerbread instead of the newer Honeycomb, which seemed odd given that all of the other tablets and the majority of new phones we've seen have featured the newer version of Android. If it means that we can get our hands on it sooner (and that there might be a future update possible), then I suppose I can't complain. :-)

The ultimate goal is that we'll compare what I would have spent on the same amount of Tru usage versus AT&#38;T's best international rate (since they are my regular carrier) after Mobile World Congress is done.
Here's where it gets even better, though. DHL came through and got the BB Bold to me before I left. Because Tru was worried that it wouldn't arrive in time, they<em> also </em>sent a BB Bold via DHL to Helena's and my hotel in Barcelona. When <a

Oh my.
I had a chance to attend the press conference where these were introduced, and a moment to fondle all three. <strong>The Experia neo:</strong> The phone I am most excited about personally is the neo; it has a beautiful screen and an amazing camera that works well in even the worst lighting situations. This phone is very media focused, and it comes equipped with HDMI support, an 8 megapixel auto-focus camera with LED flash, and a 2 megapixel front-facing camera. The camera <a

But for really digging into the latest mobile phones and the technologies that power and differentiate them, there has been one show that has long been on my radar: Mobile World Congress.

Swiss Air takes a proactive approach and sticks a USB charging port at eye level; its the perfect solution for people traveling with Mobile devices! <a

None of this is really any surprise until I saw the assortment on "mini" phones starting to stack up. I first though to myself who wants a mini phone? Super huge capacitive screens are what we are screaming for. I have lots of questions still about why these are even being made but from what we see so far, maybe bigger isn't always better. Of course some are not really mini at all. <a

href="http://www.geardiary.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/HTC-HD-mini.jpg"> </a></p> HTC is introducing a new Windows Phone this morning -- the HD Mini. Specifications on the first press release that I received were pretty sparse, as it only said the HD Mini would be "sleek, well-crafted and easy to use," that it would have a capacitive touchscreen, and that it would offer personal WiFi for your computer or other devices. Because HTC was being stingy with the specs (up until almost midnight last night), I consulted my Magic 8 ball to answer the questions not covered by the vague initial press release, and these were its replies: <strong>Will it have a Snapdragon 1GHz processor?</strong> Magic 8 ball says: "<em>Outlook not so good</em>" <strong> Will it have something less powerful</strong>? Magic 8 ball says: "<em>Definitely</em>" <strong>Will it have 512MB ROM</strong>? Magic 8 ball says: "<em>Yes</em>" <strong>Will it run Windows Phone 6.5.3</strong>? Magic 8 ball says: "<em>Maybe</em>" <strong>Will it be upgradable to Windows Phone 7</strong>? Magic 8 ball says: "<em>Ask again later</em>"
Hm.
Now I've got the real specs. Let's see how my 8 ball performed, shall we? <a

Both sport "an enhanced HTC Sense experience that will ... take Android to the next level." Both will also have "broad improvements to applications including the browser, email client and others."
The Legend includes a 3.2" AMOLED HVGA display.  HTC has replaced the trackball with an optical joystick, "surrounded by a narrow button to improve usability without interrupting its unique design." I won't know how well it works until I give it a try, but the optical joystick looks pretty quirky. <a

I wanted to compile a small list of post CES, pre MWC phones that may or may not make it to consumers hands. I kept the list down to phones planned on a US launch; while some have concrete launch dates, some have yet to be seen.
The mobile world is the fastest growing area of technology today. Phones will soon be surpassing computers for web browsing, document shuffling, social media and most light computing, including laptops.  Phones will probably soon become self aware and create a network of autonomous robots that take over the world as we know it. Alright, well maybe not the replace laptops part but the rest is destined to be true. Here's what I came up with so far. Feel free to add whatever else you know of with some helpful links. <a
