Note: These aren't ranked in any order. These are just the Freerunner. Then Google brought out what became the most successful Linux based operating system of all time, Android. Well, needless to say, the writing was on the wall. The clunky OpenMoko OS, with the behind the times hardware, was enough to make OpenMoko irrelevant in the smartphone arena. Well, it seemed to be such a waste to throw out the work they did on the OS, so the next choice was to bring out another device. This time, they didn't even try to look at bringing out another smartphone. They, instead, brought out the Wikireader <a

I'll try to describe, in layman's terms, what this may mean to a prospective Droid X buyer. What is this root and custom rom thing? First, having root is like having the Administrator user password on a Windows machine or the root password on a Mac OS X machine or Linux machine. It essentially gives you the right to modify anything on the phone. You could, for example, enable tethering without having to pay for it on Verizon (Note: Gear Diary <a

The second bounty is the Move Networks plugin. The lucky hacker will get $2000 if they get it working and $2500 if it works in Firefox.
The third <a

To be able to stream the movies over this server like MythWeb does. As for home movies, having the ability to easily upload to youtube would be beneficial. Support for file systems other than fat32 to avoid the 2gb limitation. As a Linux user I would like to see more documentation on their site about using the device in Linux. Right now I see a lot of Windows and OS
System 76 showing off Hardy and giving out CD's. There were at least 5-6 different CD's they were handing out in this booth alone. This includes, Ubuntu Desktop and Server in 32 and 64 bit versions. They also had Kubuntu in both 32 and 64 bit versions as well as a remix of Kubuntu with the shiney KDE 4 Desktop. That doesn't cover the myriad of other Ubuntu based remixes out there. Ubuntu has firmly entrenched itself as THE Linux distro that is in everyone's bag. Neuros Store. Now this isn't intended for end users just yet, but when it is it will bring High Definition to the OSD platform.<p

If the OSD is any indication of what's in store for us in the OSD 2, then I think we have a exciting device on it's way. The only limit of the OSD and OSD2 are the limits of the programmers and the limits of the users. The OSD didn't do as much when it first shipped as it does now; the OSD2 won't be any different.
<a

My first was a Garmin GPS 12 which didn't have any road maps or anything else; it was much more appropriate to use in the forest, but I used it everywhere and even hooked it to a laptop so I could get maps. It was a awesome device, but hobbled by older technology and Selective Availability when I used it.
My next unit was also a Garmin, the Garmin eMap to be precise. Now that SA was off, it was much more accurate, but it did not have WAAS or any other technology that could give me good fast fixes. The eMap was a great device, but the maps were not very detailed unless you spent a ton of money on memory and a Garmin CD. I loved it anyway.
