Some time ago, I had the opportunity to review the Sandisk Sansa Clip.  It is a great, little music player, which is ideal for runners and other individuals who do not need constant access to the screen.  My only complaint about this player was that it has limited internal memory and no opportunity for expansion.  Even though it can only play music, I still found the maximum size of 4 GB to be a bit limiting.

All of that is about to change, however, with the release this week of an 8 GB version of Sansa Clip.  The 8GB Clip, which makes its debut this week, is able to hold up to 4000 songs, without any modifications to its miniscule size.  You can find more information at Sansa’s website, where you can also purchase the 8GB Sansa Clip for only $99.99. 

At the moment, there aren’t many geeky things more decadent than being able to say that you have got a SanDisk 16GB microSD card. This doo-dad is the size of a woman’s fingernail, and it has as much memory as a 3G iPhone…amazing. Popping this minuscule card into your mobile phone’s card slot can turn your phone or PDA into a multimedia powerhouse!

SanDisk today is releasing a 32 GB Compact Flash memory card that boosts throughput speed by 50 % (from 20 mb/s to 30 mb/s). In their press release SanDisk says this speed boost is great for professional photographers - and I’m certain that it is. The extra space is also sorely needed by anyone shooting video.

With the wide availability of affordable camera’s offering fast continuous shot modes - extra data speed is helpful to everyone. Especially to people like me who take 30 pictures of the same scene hoping that one will come out halfway decent.

Since the pictures can only move on the card as fast as the memory will move - faster is always better. The new card is scheduled for an October 2008 release and suggested retail will be $299.
