Engadget is reporting that Sling has created a “pre-alpha proof of concept” of their Slingplayer Mobile for the iPhone. The odd part (to me) is that according to Engadget’s report, Sling has not yet been officially accepted by Apple into their developer program? What’s up with that? Could Apple be planning a little competition for Sling in this area or did the developer paperwork just get stuck on someone’s desk? Update: According to Zatz Not Funny, the holdup may be the bandwidth strain that Sling would put on the AT&T network. Apparently one of the requirements to be admitted to “the program” is you can’t be a bandwidth pig.
