An eagle-eyed observer at WMExperts points out that the Sprint Treo 850e has shown it’s face (or someone has spoofed their browser) on the DSL Reports web site. They found this tidbit by pouring through public logs of people who use the mobile speed test site to test their phones. The log entry in question shows a Treo 850e coming in on a Sprint connection (the only Treo Pros presently sold by Palm are the GSM unlocked variety and Sprint is a CMDA carrier making it unlikely that this is someone using an unlocked phone on Sprint). Because phones leaves a unique browser identification it is sometimes an indication of product testers stopping by to check out the speed of their new phone. This is also an area that might be ripe for mis-information because browsers can quite easily be spoofed into mis-identifying themselves and causing us all sorts of angst. This is possible good news for those awaiting the introduction of the Treo Pro. Potential bad news for those who bought the Treo 800W thinking the Treo Pro might never appear stateside.

Updated 08/15: See below…

Looks like the Treo Pro has made quick appearance — and disappearance on the Palm web site. An astute web site visitor posted information via WMEXPERTS on a product page that was briefly displayed on Palm. According to the page the specs are 3G with a 320×320 screen. Interestingly enough, one of our tipsters who had some play time with this says Palm is going to announce it within the coming week. The phone is sans carrier branding and apparently a GSM model. Speculation is that this phone won’t be carried by AT&T - at least not right away. We’ll wait and see. Click on for more photos.
