I took advantage of a recent W00t deal, and I now have a US Edition of the Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 5.0. This is the US edition, as opposed to the more common Asian/European version. Let's take a look!

So the day has finally come for the Notion Ink Adam to become a reality. On pre-order day I ordered myself a Pixel Qi WiFi model and my brother a LCD WiFi model. Unfortunately due to some broken hardware reported during initial shipping, mine has yet to even post a ship date. The Logitech G27 racing wheel is the follow up to Logitech's wonderful G25 racing wheel that came out a few years back. It is developed mainly for the hardcore gamers who love to experience every bit of the game, and play it in true sense. It is designed to provide the best racing experience to the PlayStation gaming station users and PC gamers. Having used the G25 in the past, I would say I am a very happy owner of the fantastic G25 racing wheel made by Logitech. The G27 racing wheel from Logitech is everything a racing simulation fan would ever want; leather-clad steering wheel, two motors for force feedback, manual gearbox, with clutch pedal.

I would like to thank Logitech as they are kind enough to provide me with a review unit of the G27. A full review is scheduled within the next couple of weeks. Just last night, while browsing in my local Apple reseller, I stumbled upon one of those products that made me stand up go WOW! Allistair has one of these in his cue for review. The Mimo line of 7" USB powered monitors were on display at the new store. As soon as I cast eyes on one I knew I'd be taking one home. Sprint’s HTC Touch Pro2 Unboxed

If you've been waiting for the new US CDMA version of the HTC Touch Pro2 that Clinton, Drew and I reviewed earlier this summer, then now is the time to pay attention to the Sprint network - they have their version of the Touch Pro2 out on September 8, and phonedog.com has the unboxing. $349.99 after rebates with the two year contract. It'll cost you, but man...what a sweet unit.

An Unboxing I NEVER Thought I Would Do

For me, the iPhone was love at first multi-touch. When I bought one exactly two years ago this week, I thought that I would NEVER want to try another device. EVER. Since then I've had an iPhone "Classic", a 3G and now a 3GS. The iPhone 3GS is amazing. It is fast, it has huge storage and... it's an iPhone!

BUT... Apple's shenanigans lately got me thinking. I've started wondering about the longevity of the platform a bit and, more importantly, as someone who uses a tremendous number of Google products including Gmail and Google Voice, I've started wondering if these services will continue to be crippled on the iPhone. ooma Free Home Phone System Gets Unboxed

Wayne got his ooma Free Home Phone System back in March and did a full post on it, then he posted a special deal on the ooma the other day. I was looking for a new phone system that would reduce my monthly expense and, if need be, be somewhat portable since we spend part of the year elsewhere. I ordered it and... two days later it is here. The system includes both the ooma Hub and an ooma Scout. More information on ooma's site.

One of the best things about being a technology writer is getting to look at some of the newest and best tech toys on the market. Recently, my parents bought a June 2009 15” MacBook Pro (the one with the new SD slot) for my mother. My mission (and I have no choice but to accept it…) is to install all the software, configure the Boot Camp partition (with XP Pro), etc. for her. I am also fixing my father’s Fall 2008 15” MacBook Pro, and it's in the process of whisking its way here from Houston. Unboxing the HP Pavilion dv2-1199us Laptop

HP and Microsoft sent me an HP Pavilion dv2-1199us Entertainment PC to try out. Once I got past the fact that the model number is a mouthful, I couldn't help but notice how lovely this moonlight white computer is - both in appearance and specifications. The exterior is described as a "magnesium-aluminum-alloy case in a white imprint finish," but that barely describes it; the look is stunning. The touch pad is a mirrored surface, and it runs Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit). The dv2 has a bunch of bells and whistles...both in the hardware and in the included Microsoft software, and you can watch me make a complete dork of myself opening it here...

Unboxing the Amazon Kindle DX

I couldn't resist; I put in my order and received an Amazon Kindle DX. :-P Some of the more obvious differences between the two devices are that the DX has a ~9.5" screen, while the 2 has a ~5.8" screen; the DX measures 10.4" tall x 7.2" wide x 0.38" thick, and the 2 measures 8" tall x 5.3" wide x 0.36" thick; and the DX can hold ~3500 books while the 2 can hold ~1500. The keyboards are a bit different, there are no buttons on the DX's left side, and hmmm - just watch!

I was starting to feel like I was one of the last people to get theirs, especially after enviously reading Dan's emails and Doug's post about their Kindle 2s, but today my Amazon Kindle 2 finally showed up. I also got the Cole Haan Brown pebbly leather cover to go with it, since Amazon neglected to include even a cheap plastic one. The big box is the leather cover, and the smaller box is the Kindle 2; go figure. I opened everything with an expectant, yet slightly wary eye; I had dropped serious coin on this gear, and if it wasn't going to meet my expectations, then it needed to go right back. Unless you're living under a rock, you've probably heard that Apple announced several new models and refreshes of their popular line of MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air computers. The MacBook seems the most changed with new aluminum casing and beefier video and storage specifications. Turns out all the hype about "carving a laptop from a brick of aluminum" was interesting speculation. Apple is indeed using the manufacturing process that they used to make the MacBook Air so slim - but there doesn't seem to be any magic aluminum carving potion beyond sharing the same manufacturing process. So far as I've seen, these laptops are not Apple's much ballyhooed margin buster as evidenced by the chorus of complaints about the lack of an expected sub $800 model.
