Today we went to eat at a neighbohood catfish restaurant. The menu had changed since the last time we dined there, and I couldn’t help but notice a new addition to the appetizer choices.
Take a look at this heart-attack-on-a-platter…any guesses as to what it might be?
The very idea of this item being chicken-fried and served was so alien to me, but we were game and gave it a try…
And now I guess I can say that I have tried just about every crazy dish imaginable, but I won’t ever be able to call chicken fried bacon a favorite. 8?
After the first bite my arteries informed me that they would revolt if I ever tried suffocating them with such a grease-laden dish again.
Doesn’t the very idea of “chicken fried bacon” kind of give you the heebie-jeebies? Have you ever heard of such a thing?! Or should this be filed under “Only in Texas”?

How about Deep Fried Snickers Bars at the Virginia State Fair? No, I never had one but they sell ‘em.

God…Bless…America..!
This is a true redneck dee-lite. Kinda makes me want to chicken fry some beef jerky, too…

at least I had heard of Deep Fried Snickers…I’ve never tried one, though.

I tried the deep fried cany bars (Minn State Fair) and it was just way too sweet.
My brother and his family live there, and told us we HAD to try it.
They had several kinds of candy bars, but I think Snickers was the most popular.
I think we got like 6 or 7 bars for 5 adults, 2 high schoolers and 1 toddler. We ate all of them, and most of us went into sugar shock right away.
I’ve never heard of the chicken fried bacon, and I have been to Tx a few times. Guess I’m not eating at the right places.

In NC, we have deep fried Oreos, deep fried Bananas, deep fried Moon Pies, etc. Pretty much anything that is available is deep-fried at the local flea markets and fairs

Yes, but none of those are chicken fried!
I have had fried ice cream before - it’s pretty good. But still, it’s kinda gross to think of the things that people will dunk in a deep fryer with full intention of eating.

My son insisted we eat that the last time we went to Catfish Corner. Even his little piggy self couldn’t finish more than one piece of it. Could feel my arteries hardening at the first bite.

Andy, that’s the exact name of the place where we ate. Coincidence?…I think not.

Well, we do live in the same town, Judie.
I’m pretty sure that place doesn’t have any food that isn’t fried.

Well color me surprised…I did not realize that - or I knew it and since forgot!
Cool - another sandandjello’an.

Deep fried anything is tasty (if not healthy.) I mean look at calamari. It’s basically deep fried rubber bands (but yummy.)
Chicken fried is taking it to a whole new level. Cracker Barrel has a menu item called “chicken fried chicken.” Huh? Isn’t that just fried chicken?

Oh come on, fried foods cant really be harmful if you only eat once in a while. I really want to try fried burgers, now thats a yummy idea (now, one has to be totally nuts to eat this stuff everyday).
