Follow Friday App for iPhone

If you use Twitter, chances are you’re familiar with the tradition that is #Follow Friday.

For those of you who aren’t, every Friday Twitter users compose a Tweet to their followers which consists of a list of the “cool” people they follow, and it serves to suggest that they follow them too.

While I do like the concept it, can become taxing to compose these weekly Tweets, trying to remember who you shouted out the week before, who did for you, etc.

The Follow Friday application, available in the iTunes App Store for 99 cents takes all the guess-work out of #Follow Friday.

The concept is super-easy.  You can either choose to have the application generate a #Follow Friday Tweet for you (it does this based on the people you Tweeted with the most over the last week) or you can create your own #Follow Friday Tweet by choosing people you follow from a list.  You can create sub-lists within the application making it even easier to choose the people you follow as well.  You can also choose which tag your tweet gets (#FF or #FollowFriday.)

The application is incredibly easy and a time saver for sure.  My only complaint is the way it goes about generating the random Tweet, since it’s not so random at all.  I’ve suggested to the developer that in addition to Tweeting out the people you talked with most that he add an option that created a Follow Friday Tweet that truly was a random sampling of the people you follow, this way it would be different each week.

If you’re a Twitter user, and one who participates in #Follow Friday, this is one of those applications that you’ll be glad you downloaded.

Check it out in the iTunes App Store here. (Link opens iTunes.)
